Unravelling the process and inspirations behind the exotic and imaginary collections through key beauty shows, the exhibition draws on McQueen's some trusted make-up artists and their recently historical work.

So what the actual experts have to say?

Val Garland -'Lee was obsessed with a skeletal variety of beauty, he had this 'otherworldly' perception of perfection that was skin-deep. Rather than apply, he would take features away to help make the bone structure more prominent. '

'To achieve the look for Untitled (Golden Shower, SS98) show, Certainly made eyelashes from feathers not to mention shaped them to resemble bat wings and fish fins. A company that worked on the Star Conflicts film was applying prosthetics to be able to models' eyebrows, creating a very mannequin-like look. Halfway through the show, lady started dripping onto the catwalk to the tune of 'I Could not Stand The Rain'. Lee was looking for the models' make-up to look 'destroyed' - to look like their careta had run. We were running around backstage adding black tears while the clearly show went on. '

A must-see just for beauty buffs and fashion obsessives everywhere, the exhibition is also freely available. Yup, you heard us, totally free. Sorry V&A, LCF gets most vote this time.
